Elimas Bar-Jesus

(Barjesus) - a character from the bibli cal Acts of the Apostles 13, 6-12 New Testament. He lived in the first century n.e. surrounded by a Roman proconsul in Cyprus, Ser gius Paul (Paulus). Its name derives from the Greek (Gr. Bariesou s) while the word is a nickname meaning Elymos magician. Jewish magician and false prophet Bar-Jesus was afraid to lose its influence if Sergius Paul is a Christian. Therefore, opposed the adoption by the proconsul of Christianity preached by Paul and Barnabas.
